Alan J. Stevens

Alan J. Stevens, of Mashpee, passed away March 19, 2014 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was 49 years old.

Alan loved his family and cherished his children: Christopher Daly, April Atwood and Aaron Stevens. Beloved son of Muriel A. Kelly, Charles H. Stevens, step-father Robert J. Kelly and step-mother Mary Ellen Stevens; loving brother of Beatrice I. Whalin, Frank R. Whalin, Charles H. Stevens, Leanne Stevens, LuAnne K. Alexander and Matthew J. Alexander; step-brother of Laura Boonham, Karen Charles, Michael Kelly, Brian MacDonald, Scott MacDonald and Shawn MacDonald. Alan is also survived by his 5 grandchildren: Carmella, Jade, Eryn, Natalia and Arianah. A devoted animal lover, he leaves his dog, Jasper, and cat, Harold S. Mink. 

Alan was born January 31, 1965 in Weymouth, Mass. A graduate of Weymouth Vocational High School, class of 1983, he worked as a floor refinisher and certified yoga teacher. He enjoyed camping with his family on Cape Cod and became a resident of Mashpee in 2005.

In lieu of flowers, Alan’s family requests that donations be made to benefit Alan’s children at Children of Alan Stevens Fund c/o Rockland Trust, 1 Pilgrim Hill Rd. Plymouth, MA 02360. Donations may also be made at Hope Hospice McCarthy Care Center, 73 Service Rd. Sandwich, MA 02537.

Alan will always be remembered for his love of nature, his kind heart and his delicious pancakes. It was often remembered how he won the “Golden Spatula Award” when he was a boy scout. Alan loved camping, biking, hiking, cooking, yoga and spending time in both Cape Cod and New Hampshire. 

Funeral service will be at Christ Church, 12 Quincy Ave., Quincy, MA at 11:00 a.m. April 5, 2014. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.
