Agnes J. Smith

Smith, Agnes J. (Farquharson) of Quincy died peacefully at home on April 24, 2015. The beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Smith. Cherished mother of Patty Smith of Quincy and Maura Norton and her husband Frederic of Hull. Sister of Mary Borstell of Wakefield, Dorothy Farquharson of Boston, Donald Farquharson and his wife Nancy of West Bridgewater, and the late Joseph and Robert Farquharson. Agnes is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was a devout Catholic; her faith and her family were the cornerstones of her life. Agnes was a second grade teacher in the Weymouth schools for nine years. Her love of flowers led her to be a member of the Wollaston Garden Club and her enthusiasm for history led to her membership in the Quincy Historical Society. Agnes was an avid reader who had a passion for studying history, especially the Adams family.  Her second career as a Park Ranger at the Adams National Historical Park perfectly combined her loves of history and education. Agnes will be remembered as a woman of kindness and fortitude. She will be missed by all those who were blessed to have known her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
