Adelaide O’Rourke

O’ Rourke, Adelaide (Edmunds) of Wollaston, died January 25, 2015. 

Adelaide’s world revolved around her loving family, faith and friends.  Raising her 9 children and enjoying her 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren was the greatest joy of her life.  She was a devoted parishioner of St. Ann’s Church in Wollaston and volunteered for many of their outreach efforts as well as being a Eucharistic Minister.  Mrs. O’Rourke also volunteered at Eventide Nursing Home and knitted hats and mittens for the infants of unwed mothers.  She enjoyed the life she and her husband created for their family, took pleasure in tending to her garden, as well as spending her summers in Hull on Gunrock Beach.  She was full of life, had a sparkle in her eye, was always willing to help and was the most loving and caring person.  She was a beautiful lady and will be deeply missed. 

Beloved wife of the late William J. O’Rourke.  Loving mother of Kathleen Hutton and her husband Douglas of CT, Virginia Anderson and her husband Michael of Hull, Nancy Palma and her husband Robert of Plympton, Michael O’Rourke of ME, Christine Simmons of Hanover, Paul O’Rourke of Weymouth, Sean O’Rourke and his wife Patricia of Weymouth, and the late William O’Rourke and Patricia Delahoyde.  Sister of the late Virginia Barry, Lorraine Needham and Joseph Edmunds.  Also survived by 21 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.  Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
