Adan Nieves Almodovar

Adan Nieves Almodovar, of Quincy, formerly of Puerto Rico, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 8, 2019. He was 91.

Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Justino and Carmen (Almodovar) Nieves and attended local schools. He earned his associates degree and worked as a foreman in the lumber industry. He loved his work and the relationships he built throughout the years.

In his spare time, Adan loved spending time with his family, daughter and grandsons. He loved his family more than anything and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for the people he cared for.

A man of great faith, he lived his life in accordance with the Christian virtues of faith, hope and love. He was devoted to Our Lord and attended Mass seven days a week. He always said that he was a lucky man and that he lived better than a millionaire because of all the grace and love he had in his life and family.

Adan had a great sense of humor, was witty, funny, grateful, kind and a true gentleman. He enjoyed singing, and had a beautiful voice. Adan also loved listening to music. His favorites were danzas, Bobby Capo, Tito Rodriguez and Daniel Santos.

Adan’s legacy of life lessons, examples, and teachings continue through his daughter and grandchildren. He will be missed by all the lives he touched.

Adan was the devoted father of Maria Nieves-Tragellis and her husband Stratton of Quincy. He was the loving grandfather of Greg Tragellis of Quincy, Adam Tragellis of Quincy and Alex Tragellis of New York City. Adan was the dear brother of Carmen Nieves of Puerto Rico and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday, July 14th from 2-5 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. His funeral service will be celebrated on Sunday, July 14th at 5 PM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Services will conclude with military honors in the Keohane Funeral Home. Interment will be held privately in Puerto Rico at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Adan’s name to the charitable organization of one’s choice.
