Kathleen “Kathy” Creighton was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She passed away on January 19, 2024 after a nine-year battle with appendix cancer.
Kathy was born to Ellen and John Colbert on July 13, 1958. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and a master’s degree from Northeastern University, both in chemical engineering. She worked for 43 years as a regional director, office manager, and program manager in the environmental, process design, and nuclear technology industries. She was an office manager for many years. As a licensed site professional, she worked on chemical demilitarization, hazardous waste, site investigation and remediation projects.
She was a leader in the Boston post of the Society of American Military Engineers and active in Abington’s conservation commission for many years. Additionally, she enjoyed volunteering wherever she could throughout her life, including coaching youth basketball, chaperoning high school robotics trips, and fundraising for cancer research.
Kathy was most happy when spending time with family and friends. She was funny, confident, kind, compassionate, intelligent, and fun loving.
Kathy was a Bravo “super fan”, loved dogs, Star Trek, and reading science fiction novels. Her favorite places to travel to with her husband and family were Disney World, Bar Harbor, Lake George, North Conway and Las Vegas.
Beloved wife of 37 years to William Creighton. Loving mother to Julie Creighton and her husband, Rodrigo Lopez, Carolyn Creighton and her husband, William Sullivan IV, and Donna Creighton and her husband, WeiXuan Lai. Caring sister to John Colbert and his wife, Patricia and loving aunt to Mary Blanchette and her husband, Alex, and Patrick Colbert. Dear sister-in-law to Robert Creighton and his wife, Kristin. Loving dog mom to the late “Lady” Creighton.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Bridget’s Church, Abington at 11 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Cycle for Survival fundraiser, for team “Kathy’s Fighters” Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Cycle for Survival, P.O.
