Rita Mccarthy Fornaro

Rita McCarthy Fornaro, age 93, of Fuller Village, Milton, MA, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness, on January 8, 2022 at home, surrounded by family members. 

Born in Boston, MA on February 24, 1928, she was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Annie (Sauer) McCarthy, her husband Paul Harold Fornaro of Quincy, MA and her brother Joseph McCarthy of Boston, MA. 

Survivors include her three children, Paul Fornaro of Braintree, MA (Laura), Catherine Fornaro Hunt (James) of Manhattan Beach, CA and Anna Fornaro of Redondo Beach, CA; and her three grandchildren, Brendan Hunt of Manhattan Beach,CA, Amanda Hunt of Helsinki, Finland and Olivia Hunt of Brooklyn, NY, and her nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Rita was a wonderful and devoted Mother, raising her three young children in Quincy after the premature death of her beloved husband Paul. She had a big heart and generously cared for both family members and friends throughout her life. She always put others before herself. She was a great friend, had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready to throw a party surrounded by family and friends.

Rita graduated from Jamaica Plain High School in 1945. She worked for the New England Telephone Company before marrying, and at the Atherton Hough School in Quincy while raising her children.

Visiting hours at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy, MA will be held on Thursday January 13, 2022 from 4-7 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 44 School St, Quincy, MA, at 12 PM.  Internment will follow at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
