Raymond E. Neiland, 93, of North Weymouth died on November 29, 2015.

Born in Lowell, MA, he was the son of James and Bridget (Critchley) Neiland. He was a graduate of Lowell High School and a US Navy Veteran of WWII, serving as a Sonar Man First Class on board the USS George E. Badger, earning 10 Battle Stars, The Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Raymond was a Master Gas Fitter and later a dispatcher for the Boston Gas Company for 35 years. He was an Amateur Radio Operator, earning an Amateur Extra Class License, and was very active in radio for many years.

A member of St. Jerome’s Parish since moving to Weymouth in 1952, Raymond volunteered for many years as an altar server and lector. He was proud of his volunteer service at Father Bill’s Place in Quincy.

Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Mary (O’Rourke) Neiland, three sons: Raymond and his wife Michelle of Temecula, CA, William and his longtime companion Dale Fulton of Stoneham, James of Weymouth, a daughter Ann and her husband Robert of Middletown, NJ, three grandsons: Daniel, Kenneth and Andrew, and two great grandchildren: Michael and Alexia. He was predeceased by his grandson James.

Funeral services will be held in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home North Weymouth. Burial will be held in Old North Cemetery in North Weymouth. Services will be private.
